RACHEL MENDELSON (SOPRANO)
Rachel Mendelson was born in BsAs, where she started to learn the piano
from the very early age and began to receive voice lessons when she was
eighteen. Different very well-known Voice Teachers and Coaches trained
her to become a “Coloratura Soprano” with a great extension
in her voice and a very nice and bright sound, which many people compares
it with the “silver”. Her career has been always successful
an she sings a wide Repertoire which includes Opera, Oratorio, Art Song,
Zarzuela and Jewish Liturgical and Traditional Music.
Since 1992 she continues her improvement both in Vocal Technique and Repertoire
with her husband Ariel Mendelson [Graduate in Music Education, Major in
Piano and Voice from the National Conservatory of Music "Carlos López
Buchardo" 1981, Licenciature in Music (Musicology) from the Argentine
Catholic University, 1984 and Master of Music from the University of Tel

During 1991-92 she belonged to the NIO (New Opera Israeli) in Israel and
since 1993, being returned to BsAs, Rachel Mendelson has been performing
in different Theaters of BsAs city, such as: Teatro Colón (Salón
Dorado) Teatro Municipal Gral. San Martín, Teatro Avenida (debut
in Zarzuela performing the role of Carolina from Luisa Fernanda by Moreno
Torroba, 1994) Teatro Roma de Avellaneda, Centro Cultural Recoleta, Facultad
de Derecho, etc.
In 1996 was the soprano selected to work with the great actress Norma
Aleandro (Oscar for "La historia official") in "Masterclass"
by Terrence NcNally. In 1998-99 she performed in the musical "Beauty
and Beast" by Alan Menken.
The Jewish Federation of Fairfield County, in Stamford, USA invited her
in 2002 to take part of a concert named "An Evening of Music and
Tango" in which she performed Opera Arias, receiving the great applause
of the American people.
Since 1980 she has been performing in Choir and as a Soloist in different
Jewish Congregations, for the High Holy Days. In 2001 she started to develop
her Cantors career by singing in the Shabbat and Iamim Noraim Services
of the most important synagogues from BsAs, such as: Beit Israel, Dor
Jadash, Bet Jai, Soc.Israelita de Quilmes, etc.
In the High Holy Days of 2004 Rabbi Angel Kreiman and Rachel Mendelson
officiated together at the Jerusalem Synagogue, in BsAs. In December 2004
the Jewish Congregation of Sgo De Chile invited her to sing in a Concert
of Jazanim, which took place in the great Synagogue of Santiago. She was
specially invited to return again to sing at the WIZO Congress, in April
2005.
